about

THISTLES is a musical tale, suspended between the worlds of fairy tale and real life. The artists once again reach for traditional songs and use their own particular blend of sensitivity and imagination to talk about the world surrounding them from a female perspective. They talk about events that are multi-dimensional, like thistles – since thistles are at the same time beautiful and practical herbs with healing properties, as well as prickly weeds. We will hear about the various shades of love, about longing, fear, the fight for one’s own dignity, and the search for independence.

In the world of fairy tales, the hero has to enter the dark forest in order to grow up - to be ready to face the unknown, danger, a wolf. Song, like story, helps tame this wolf. It leads with the wisdom of many generations.
On the album, the wolf bass, accompanied by the Lithuanian kanklės, fiddles and voices, leads the way through the forest with its dark, mysterious sound, sometimes disclosing clearings among the trees filled with sunny, joyful compositions.

Sutari sings in the kitchen, through open windows and by the fireplace, pouring tea, walking in the woods, sitting on a bench or standing on a bridge by a lake. Sutari actually means: to harmonize. ... more
